Korn Album Review

Album title: Requiem Released: February 4th, 2022

Note: this is a personal review and is in no way bashing this band or anyone involved*

First Impressions: The songs are reflective of Korn's past work, while also showing the evolution of their craft. Jonathan Davis's vocals ring loud and clear over the searing guitar work. There's a general "we've been through hell and have stories to tell" vibe to the lyrics that, IMO, is meant to inspire the listener to understand the band's history, even without knowing all the gory details. There's a few cliche phrases but over all the message is there. Likes and Dislikes: I like that this isn't a 'typical' nu metal album. There's a bit of innovation that propels the collection of songs forward. It would make a great album to introduce someone to this genre or even just this band. However, I longed for a little more heaviness and less repetition. Fav Tracks: Start the Healing, Disconnect, and Lost in the Grandeur are amazing tracks. Wrap-up: All in all, the album is good. Not a showstopper, but good. It's what would be expected from Korn. They've been in the game for decades. They've seen and done it all, therefore there's a certain feel to the tracks that makes you appreciative of the band and what they have contributed to the scene.
