Artist: The Archaic Epidemic
Album Title: Carnivorous Diadem EP
Release Date: November 4th, 2022
Score: 9/10
First Impressions: This EP was heavily anticipated, and with good reason. The artwork gives a very eerie, dark royalty vibe (yes I know it's literally a crown). It has a phenomenal opening track that creeps into its intense, heavy riffing. The features on this release each gave it their all. The theatrical approach, the echoing, symphonic quality sprinkled throughout the tracks is a breath of fresh air; it's dramatic without being overwhelming. Ian's vocals were fresh and well executed, the riffs were top notch, and I felt that these could easily be played in larger venues without fighting to be heard.
Likes and Dislikes: I love the over all tone of this release. Everything is crisp, the vocal tracking is superb, and that drum peddle is to die for. I will say, however, I wished for there to be a little less muddiness. There was a slight lack in mix that left me wishing for something more.
Favorite Tracks: The Pale Door, Absolution
Wrap-up:
Ian, Andrew, Lukas and Parker, yall did something special. This turned out beautifully. Other than the slight muddling here and there, I really dig this.
