*Note: this is a personal review and is in no way bashing this band or anyone involved*
First Impressions: This EP was written from a place of anger, hope, political thoughtfulness and slight pandering. Here me out: the songs are well written and enjoyable, and brought about a feeling of cautious positivity. However, there's an element that reminds me a little of Shinedown's Planet Zero. In no way a bad thing, just an observation. The EP is also littered with Rise Against's signature style of changing the pace throughout each track. The lyrics are direct but subtle, and it's easy to guess some of the source material, but the group managed to write good songs that keep your interest without being terribly preachy. There's even a few screams and a (kinda) breakdown or two.
Likes and Dislikes: I like the message, I like how it's displayed in the songs so that it can be about multiple issues not just one. And I can appreciate where they were coming from. I don't care for a few of radio rock kind of tone, but a couple of the songs did catch my ear.
Favorite Tracks: The Answer, Pain Mmgt
Wrap-up: Overall, this EP is not bad at all. I can jam to a few of the songs, and the message is heard loud and clear. If Gen X are looking for a soundtrack to what's going on in the world, check this out. While all 5 songs aren't for me, they are pretty good songs.
