Regions Album Review

Artist: Regions

Album Title: Hostile

Release Date: September 11th, 2022

Score: 9.6/10

First Impressions: This is heavy, well produced and sounds great. A couple songs end pretty abruptly, something I'm unsure was intentional. The album opens up with the 46 second 'Q.C H.' which instantly awakens a primal urge to fuck things up. 'Fireknife' and 'Hostile', the title track, keep that energy going and are easily stand out songs. The rest of the album, 6 more songs with brick solid vocals, piercing guitars and pace changes that might make you dizzy if you aren't paying attention, create an almost animalistic feeling coupled with understandings of emotions that is borderline genius. I love that the album art is simple but still cuts through and catches your attention. I could easily pick this out of a stack but not be overwhelmed with color.

Likes and Dislikes: Of course the heaviness is a plus, but what I really like is the 'deep cut' kind of feeling these songs give me. It's like listening to your first heavy band all over again, and realizing how amazing deathcore and hardcore are. The only downside is the couple of tracks that have that rushed ending and quickly skip to the next song.

Favorite Tracks: 2 X Tuesday, Hostile, Twitch

Wrap-up: well done indeed boys, well done. I'm thoroughly impressed. Go ahead and release an EP, I won't be mad.
