Artist: Belmont Release Date: March 4th Title: Aftermath Score: 8/10 *Note: this is a personal review and is in no way bashing this band or anyone involved* First Impressions: There are some neat electric riffs and such going on that add a little extra texture to each song. The production of the songs is very "pop punk, The Story So Far", but not in a bad way. Taz Johnson even adds a little extra flow to some of the songs like 'Pain Now' that changes the flow, and keeps it from getting boring. The screams also keep the songs from getting redundant. Even though the songs sound slightly similar, each has their own narrative that makes them a delightful experience for the listener. Likes and Dislikes: I loved the majority of this album; most of the songs have some heart to them, and are littered with inflections that make them easy cult favorites. 'Country Girl' was not one of these songs. Decent, catchy radio song, but definitely not a favorite. Favorite Tracks: Parasite, In My Skin, Top Gun (From the Top), 4am // Disappear are all fantastic. Wrap-up: This album reminds me of past pop punk bands, while still staying current, and contains many elements that make the songs easy to fall in love with and put on a car ride with the homies. Nice work, fellas.
